Por Patricia Landim

"Anne of Green Gables" is a series of books written by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. The collection consists of eight books, which were published between 1908 and 1939. Here's a brief overview:

1º Anne of Green Gables (1908): The book tells the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan who is sent to live with the Cuthbert siblings, Marilla and Matthew, who had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. Anne wins the hearts of the Cuthberts with her vivid imagination and charming personality.

2º Anne of Avonlea (1909): The book follows Anne's life after her years at Green Gables, as she begins teaching at the Avonlea village school and gets involved in various adventures with her friends.

3º Anne of the Island (1915): The book follows Anne's adult life as she attends Redmond College and falls in love with Gilbert Blythe.

4º Anne of Windy Poplars (1936): The book tells the story of Anne as the principal of a high school in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

5º Anne's House of Dreams (1917): The book follows Anne's life after her marriage to Gilbert Blythe as they move to Anne's dream home in Four Winds Harbour.

6º Anne of Ingleside (1939): The book is set years after the events of "Anne's House of Dreams" and follows Anne's life as a mother of six children.

7º Rainbow Valley (1919): The book tells the story of the Reverend John Knox Meredith's children, who become friends with Anne Shirley and her children.

8º Rilla of Ingleside (1921): The book is set during World War I and follows the life of Rilla, the youngest daughter of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. Rilla has to deal with the hardships of the war while waiting for her beloved brother, who is fighting in Europe, to return.

The "Anne of Green Gables" books have been adapted for television several times over the years, but the most well-known adaptation is the series "Anne with an E," produced by Netflix and CBC Television in 2017. The series was created by Moira Walley-Beckett and aired for three seasons.

"Anne with an E" follows the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan adopted by the Cuthbert siblings, as she struggles to find her place in the world and overcome the traumas of her past. The series expands on the characters and stories from the original books, addressing themes such as abuse, bullying, racism, diversity, and gender identity.

The series was praised for its cinematography, production design, and acting, especially by lead actress Amybeth McNulty, who portrayed Anne Shirley with great skill. However, the series was also criticized for deviating too much from the original story of the books, especially in the third season, which introduced a completely new storyline.

Despite being canceled after the third season, "Anne with an E" garnered a dedicated fan base and helped popularize the story of "Anne of Green Gables" even further around the world.
